About Uncle Jesse's BBQ

Miriam and Nate Benson are the pitmasters behind Uncle Jesse's BBQ—though "Uncle Jesse" is actually a nickname given to Nate from a friend (based on his legal first name). Nate's mom taught him to cook, passing down more than just recipes; she instilled the belief that good food is how people truly connect with each other.

When people started asking them to cook for their events, they realized they could turn this passion into a business. Today, Uncle Jesse's BBQ has grown into a full-service catering business, an outdoor cooking school, and an elite competition team on the Steak Cookoff Association circuit. Miriam and Nate are both high level competitors, and together have built a barbecue program they're incredibly proud of.

Their competition record backs it up: 26-time Reserve or Grand Champions on the BBQ competition circuit, four-time top-seven finishers at the World Championships, and the first-ever qualifiers for the BBQ World Cup.

Based in American Fork, Utah, they cater everything from weddings to backyard birthdays to corporate events across Utah and Salt Lake counties and surrounding areas (they will even travel further to make your event special). In addition to catering, they teach hands-on cooking classes.
